4,066 grade 12 students take the 2023 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Qualifying Examination
There were 4,066 grade 12 students in Region 1 who took the qualifying examinations for the 2023 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships held last March 18-19, 2023, at nine (9) Testing Centers spread across the four (4) provinces of the region.
This is the end of the campaign for the said scholarship which ran its application period from September 19, 2022, to December 16, 2022, that is spearheaded by the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-SEI).
The scholarship was opened to qualified graduating senior high school students and those who have graduated earlier but have not taken any post-secondary units. This way, opportunities for scholarship are provided to more students in the region, thus giving them the chance to improve their lives.
The scholarship benefits include tuition fees and other school fees subsidies, monthly stipends, learning material and/or connectivity allowance, uniform allowance, transportation allowance, thesis allowance, and graduation allowance. It also includes non-monetary benefits under the Science and Technology Learning Assistance Program.
These science and technology scholars are poised to eventually join the S&T workforce of the country as scientists, engineers, technologists, science and mathematics teachers, researchers, and innovators. Giving these scholarships contributes to increasing the country’s pool of scientists and researchers that is needed to bolster the country’s thrust of hastening socioeconomic development.
The announcement of the scholarship qualifiers is tentatively scheduled in June 2023. If they pass the examination, qualifiers will receive a Notice of Award through their registered email addresses. As such, applicants are encouraged to regularly check their email inboxes. The list of Region 1 qualifiers will also be posted on the DOST1-Scholarship Unit Facebook page. (By Nikko S.
