Mindanaoans expected to join 2022 Regional Scientific Meeting - DOST
The National Academy of Science and Technology Philippines (NAST-PHL), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology Region IX (DOST-IX), will host the Mindanao Regional Scientific Meeting (MRSM) on 5-6 April 2022, in conjunction with the 44th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).
With the theme “PAGTANAW 2050: Agham Tungo sa Mabuting Kinabukasan/ FORESIGHT 2050: Science for a Sustainable Future,” this year’s Mindanao Regional Scientific Meeting is set as an online event to reach wider geography and demographics of Mindanao. It will be held primarily via Zoom Conferencing, at the same time streamed through DOST-IX Facebook and Youtube accounts.
The ASM and MRSM aim to introduce PAGTANAW 2050, assess regional Science Technology and Innovation (STI) talent capacity, and plan for its talent development and retention. This activity is part of a larger effort to bring science closer to the Filipinos in various regions of the country. It serves as a venue to present scientific researches and policies that will benefit the science community.
Plenary sessions will focus on “Management Science for Talent Development and Retention” and “COVID-19, Natural Disasters, and Economic Recovery.”
Talks on Environment and Climate Change, Food, Health and Nutrition, Energy and Water, and Built Environments are among the topics arranged for invitation-exclusive sessions.
Academicians, Outstanding Young Scientists (OYS), and esteemed resource persons are expected to speak to the academe, medical practitioners, local government units, national government agencies, private sectors and policy makers throughout the activity.
The two-day virtual event will likewise feature DOST Programs and Projects in Mindanao Cluster, NAST Programs and Activities, and an overview of PAGTANAW 2050.
PAGTANAW 2050 is a DOST-funded inter- and trans-disciplinary initiative on Philippine-focused STI Foresight and Strategic Plan that will impact the Filipino people's aspirations by 2050.
