NAST PHL brings online S&T events to Bicol
The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) of the Department of Science and Technology is partnering with the Department of Science and Technology Region V (DOST-V) to organize the Virtual Speakers Bureau and Salinlahi Symposium Series, back-to-back on 23 February 2022 via online platform.
The Speakers Bureau is a program of NAST PHL that aims to serve provincial centers through scientific and technological lectures and assist academic institutions or any interested organizations by providing speakers and resource persons on science related issues. Technology-Based Enterprise Development and Technology Transfer & Commercialization will be discussed by speakers from the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI).
On the other hand, the Salinlahi Symposium Series aims to immerse students of far-flung areas in the works of various scientists and to encourage them to take careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been conducted virtually since 2020. Speakers from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) and Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) will expound on the theme “The Role of Science and Technology in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management”.
DOST Region V and NAST PHL cordially invites state universities & colleges (SUCs), higher education institutions (HEIs), government agencies, research & development institutions (RDIs), and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to join the Virtual Speakers Bureau in the morning session; and elementary and secondary schools in the region to participate in the Salinlahi Symposium in the afternoon.
